Reason for buying Clarks Grey Atl Hikehi Gtx Boots; After reading excellent reviews about these boots and Clarks having a good reputation, I purchased a pair for a walking holiday I had coming up. First impressions;Trying to squeeze my foot through the ankle part of the boot was tight, however, once your foot was in the boot, the boot was a good fit and felt comfortable - after all a size 8 is a size 8. I then tried to get my foot into the boot when wearing walking socks - no chance, the ankle part of the boot is just too narrow, even with the laces loosened. However, the boots are very well-made, and the material feels good quality and robust, In addition, they are comfortable with just normal socks on, so I decided to keep them.Trying them out;I wore these boots to work over a couple of days to see how they felt, the boot felt snug, not tight around my foot - But I can only wear normal socks, there was plenty of room for my toes to wiggle at the end of the boot - my toes were not touching the end of the boot on the inside, my foot did not slide around in the boot - they felt supported and the ankle part was also supportive, again not tight but snug.My trial run gave me confidence that these boots could be ideal for my holiday, However, I'm glad I took a spare pair of walking shoes with me for the following reason.I felt like leaving Clarks Grey Atl Hikehi Gtx Boots abroad; Having to remove these boots at airport security was an ordeal, due to trying to get them back on. I was trying to squeeze my foot back through that tight ankle section when balancing on one foot, knowing I was holding people up.Wearing these boots at work for 8 hours is nothing like 'walking' in them for 8 hours. At work, the terrain is even and nonchallenging for my feet, In addition, I could sit down just as much as I walked around, so my feet never got fatigued. So after spending 8 hours walking on uneven terrain, up and down steps, and standing on the spot for prolonged periods, my feet got so tired and sore that I could not wait to get these boots off. It felt like taking weights off my feet, instead of boots, and as an added reminder of the day, I had blisters on my TOES - this has never happened to my toes, even with boots that are a fraction of the price of these.I cannot give five stars to these Clarks Grey Atl Hikehi Gtx Boots even though they are well made, robust, and durable because this pair is not well made for my feet. I am a size 8 and this pair is a size 8, in addition, the ad stated 'true to size' and 'buy your normal size', but having to squeeze your foot through the ankle section and not being able to wear walking socks, makes me think these are not true to size.......
